Hi there!
This week I'm posting a manicure that was inspired by Tahereh Mafi's Shatter Me series, which I read a while ago and absolutely loved! I really loved the writing style and character development, and I'd really recommend this series! I got the idea for the base colours from the stunning book covers, and then of course I had to add some shards! Initially, I planned to paint on an eye as an accent nail, but then decided against because I thought this effect was pretty cool. (Also, I didn't actually have enough time to paint the eye)
So for the base, I used a gray nail polish, so that the colours that I'd sponge on later wouldn't be as vibrant as they would've been when I used a white base. I then used acrylic paints with a makeup sponge on my index, middle and ring finger. For my pinky finger and thumb I just used a brush and painted strokes in a way that the colours would mix in the middle. To finish off the abse I applied a top coat, so that the colours would blend just a little bit better.
For the shards, I managed to remove the holographic film from a cd using glue. I then cut it into small triangles and placed them on my nails.
I did not add a top coat on top of the shards, because I thought that would maybe ruin the effect. Of course, the shards started falling of immediately, but at least I got the pictures!
Hope you liked this and I'll see you next time!
